In this class you'll learn a technique for folding fabric into a Danish star. This Scandinavian Christmas tradition can be used to make ornaments or decorate gifts. Make more out of the ordinary and use other seasonal fabrics (Easter, patriotic, etc.) to brighten up any space all year round. This project is simple enough for beginners yet fun for any crafting level. Students should prepare double-fold bias tape from their own fabric before class to be ready to fold the star and attach a ribbon for hanging during class.

Required materials:

- Four fabric strips cut 15”L X3 1/4” W (quilting cotton is recommended and pre-cut fabric called Fat Quarters or scraps work great)
- Ten-inches of Grosgrain ribbon 1/8” or 1/4” wide
- Iron and ironing board/mat (please have it nearby and on during class as well)
- Starch (Best Press works great)
- Ruler
- Tweezers
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Optional: needle and thread (for attaching ribbon but no sew option will be demonstrated)
*Please consider purchasing from your local quilt shop

How to make double fold bias tape:
Step 1. Cut four strips of fabric 15” L X3 1/4” W, spray with the starch of your choice for crisply folded strips.
Step 2. Fold fabric in half lengthwise (the 15” sides) once, press.
Step 3. Open then fold the sides to meet in the middle where the crease was made, press.
Step 4. Fold one side closed like a book, press.
