MMFS started 2020 with a bang with increasing classes and enrollment. Comparing the first quarter of 2019 to the first quarter of 2020 we saw an increase of almost 60% in our number of classes and an increase of 250% in the number of enrolled students. Marine Mills Folk School had successfully passed it’s one-year anniversary with flying colors!
Hit the Pause Button
As with most of the country, we needed to hit the pause button in March. We were closed but continued to stay connected. MMFS offered weekly, socially distanced hikes on Saturdays. We kept in contact with our artist-instructors, and maintained ongoing connections through social media.
Classes Go Online
September saw the start of online classes offered by MMFS. As word got out, more and more classes were offered with students eager to return to learning together in a supportive online environment.
Our plans for 2021 include the re-opening of in-person classes once it is safe to do so. We are in the early planning stages of an exciting ‘welcome back’ event with music, art/craft demonstrations, classes, artist table tops and other activities – stay tuned! In the meantime, we’ll keep offering a variety of informative and fun online classes as we keep connected with our students and support our artist-instructors.
We Really Need Your Help
Won’t you help us keep the momentum going by considering a one time or on-going monthly donation to Marine Mills Folk School? Support from our friends and neighbors is critical to maintaining our efforts, now more than ever! Please help our non-profit traditional skills folk school continue to offer opportunities for all to experience the joy of learning and creating, together.
Thank you for your help and support!
