Have you visited the Gammelgarden Museum in Scandia? It is a somewhat hidden jewel open to visitors from May 1 to October 15, as it works to “ preserve, present and promote Swedish heritage.” Think you won’t be interested because your cultural background is not Scandinavian? Think again. We all have family that experienced being in a new place and having to figure out the local culture and norms – whether a new country or a new city or a new job or a new school. You’ll see and hear something of your family’s story at Gammelgarden, and perhaps think about them and other families in new ways, as a result.
